High Coast Distillery launches Mountains 02 - Borgberget
High Coast Whisky Mountains - Borgberget, unpeated moscatel barrel finished whisky continues to celebrate the High Coast area.
Mountains in our world means aging in wine barrels and with Borgberget we let barrels that have aged Moscatel set the character. Mountains is part of our story, founded in the Origin series, linked to Silent Mills and the Harbours Collection. It is our way of paying tribute to the place and environment where we make the whisky. Borgberget at Stensätter is named after an ancient castle, the remains of which can be seen at the top, a place surrounded by steep cliffs all around. The view shows large and dense forests but also a part of the industrial landscape with the sea bay that leads towards the distillery.
The barrels that previously stored the sweet strong wine Moscatel give a fruitiness and sweetness that can be compared to tutti-frutti together with notes of papaya and vanilla. A well-balanced, unsmoked and elegant whisky with a solid history in the name.
Mountains Borgberget recently was the winner in the category Nordic Single Malt Whisky in the competition Whisky Battle, a yearly whisky competition arranged by the well renowned swedish whisky magazine Allt om Whisky.
