The Festival 2018

Festival 2018, like the previous festival releases, is mainly a result of careful and creative work with our casks where new oak barrels reach their potential. 2018 year edition is a smoky, bourbon matured whisky with characteristic tones from new American oak barrels.

For our festival releases we place extra emphasis on the selection of barrels. The exclusive release, yields approximately 1000 bottles, which means that we try many barrels to find the few barrels that really deliver the right taste profile. The recipe for this year’s festival release came from only smoky whisky which has been matured for over 5 years in 200 liter bourbon barrels. Festival 2018 also has been finished in new American oak barrels.

  • 100% peated whisky matured in 200 liters bourbon barrels for 5,42 years before being finished in 40 liter new American oak casks for almost 14 months.

    The Festival 2018 contains no artificial colouring and is non chill-filtered.

  • 200 liter Bourbon barrels (Quercus Alba), delivered empty direct from Kentucky. The 40 liter (Ankare) casks of Quercus Alba are crafted and toasted by Thorslundkagge in Sweden.

    Until October 2014, our casks have matured in a damp warehouse, where they lost slightly more alcohol than expected. Since October 2014 until bottling, the casks have been maturing in a dry environment in warehouse number 3.

    15/08/2018  the casks containing 428kg of whisky were emptied into our blending tank and the strength was reduced from 59,35% to the desired level of 54,5 % abv for bottling.

    The Festival 2018 was bottled on the 15/08/2018 producing 1000 flaskor + 20 used for festivals and tastings.

    We recommend that The Festival 2018 is allowed to breathe in the glass for a few moments to reach its peak. Add a few drops of water to help the aromas develop within the glass.

The Festival

The Festival is a series of exclusive bottles created as a tribute to our Whisky Festival, which is held annually during the last weekend in June. The Festival can only be purchased by visitors to the Whisky Festival. Each year a new whisky is created and about 1000 bottles are created
