The Festival 2016

The festival releases are characterized as cask intensive whisky with a lot of power and character. They have become some of the distillery’s most sought after and talked about releases. The Festival 2016 is the third edition in the series of festival bottlings.

The Festival 2016 is, unlike Festival 2015, 100% unpeated. The whisky is matured in Bourbon barrels and then finished in new oak barrels just like their festival counterparts. This edition, however, ‘comes home’ to its Swedish nature. The final finish has taken place in new Swedish oak barrels that have been heat treated unusually intensively. A cask intensive and exciting bottling that gives the Festival series another stand out member.

  • 100 % unpeated whisky first matured in 200 liter Bourbon barrels for 4,59 years then finished for 7 months in 40 litre new Swedish oak casks which have been heavily toasted

The Festival 2016 contains no artificial colouring and is non chill-filtered.

  • 200 liter Bourbon barrels delivered empty direct from Kentucky. The 40 liter Swedish oak casks are crafted by Thorslundkagge in Sweden and have been given a medium plus toasting prior to charring.

Until October 2014, our casks have matured in a damp warehouse, where they lost slightly more alcohol than expected. Since October 2014 until bottling, the casks have been maturing in a dry environment in warehouse number 3.

16/09/2016 the casks were tipped and gave us 588 kg of whisky which was filled into our blending tank and diluted with water from 58,5% abv, to the desired 53,9% abv for bottling
The Festival 2016 was bottled on 19/09/2016 providing us with 1012 bottles. A further 385 bottles were filled for use at festivals and tastings.

We recommend that The Festival 2016 is allowed to air in the glass for a while to fully enjoy it. Add a few drops of water to lift the aromas from the glass.
