Small Batch 1

Box Small Batch is the collective name for the editions that are bottled in small editions for a selected and exclusive market. For each Small Batch one or more single barrels are selected. Each edition thus differs from its predecessors.

Even though the flavours are completely different, they still carry a Box Distillery style – a clear distillery character with that little extra, a personal style and expression. Small batch releases are mainly produced for markets outside Sweden.
All Small Batch bottlings contain no artificial colouring and are non chill-filtered.

Small Batch 1 was bottled for Bordershop in Puttgarden in a edition of 300 bottles.

  • 100% unpeated whisky first matured in 250 liter  Oloroso cask for 3.31 years then moved to three 55 liter PX (Pedro Ximinez) casks for a futher 3 years of maturation.

     

     

     

  • All the casks used for Small Batch 1 have been provided by Miguel Martin, Jerez, Spain.

    Until October 2014, our casks have matured in a damp warehouse, where they lost slightly more alcohol than expected. Since October 2014 until bottling, the casks have been maturing in a dry environment in warehouse number 3.

    08/01/2015 the Oloroso casks were emptied and the contents were placed into 55 liter PX casks. 09/11/2017 the PX casks were emptied into our blending tank, where we added water to reach the desired strength of 56.

    Small Batch 1 was bottled 09/11/2017 giving us 300 bottles.

    We recommend that Small Batch 1 is allowed to breathe in the glass for a few moments to reach its peak. Add a few drops of water to help the aromas develop within the glass.

    Small Batch 1 contains no artificial colouring and is non chill-filtered.

  • Yeast: Fermentis Safwhisky M-1

    Unpeated malt: Pilsner malt from Vikingmalt in Halmstad.

    Barely types: Tipple, Quench, Henley och Publican

    Process water: From Bålsjön, filtered through sand and carbon filters

    Cooling water: From Ångermanälven

    Batch size: 1200 kg malt / 6300 liter wort

    Included batches: 82B-103B, 125A-132A

    Average fermentation time: 80 hours in stainless steels washbacks.

    Distilled between: 21/06/2011 – 19/9/2011

    First Cut:
    Unpeated spirit: 13 minutes head (foreshots)

    Second Cut:
    Unpeated spirit: 67 % ABV (20°C)
