Share Holder 2016

Share Holder 2016 was the first edition intended exclusively for shareholders in Box Destilleri AB. In Box distillery, other shareholder sales were issued, but then with whisky produced by Scottish distilleries.

Share Holder 2016 is a lightly peated combination of whisky from bourbon barrels and new American charred oak. This release was the first bottling where the whisky was exclusively matured in 200 liter barrels.

 

 

  • 78 % unpeated Pilsner malt. 22 % peated Pilsner malt. 78 % of the contents have matured in 140 liter Bourbon casks. 22 % of the contents have matured in 200 liter charred american oak barrels

    Share Holder 2016 contains no artificial colouring and is non chill-filtered.

  • 140 Liter Quater casks produced by Speyside Cooperage from newly emptied 200 liter Bourbon barrels. Casks of new american oak come from Kelvin Cooperage.

    Until October 2014, our casks have matured in a damp warehouse, where they lost slightly more alcohol than expected. Since October 2014 until bottling, the casks have been maturing in a dry environment in warehouse number 3.

    19/04/2016 801,1 kg of whisky with an average strength of 59,46% abv, was emptied into our blending tank. There we added water to reach the desired strength of 52% abv.

    Share Holder 2016 was bottled 20/804/2016 providing 1990 bottles. The whisky was sold to the share holders via Systembolaget.

    We recommend that Share Holder 2016  is allowed to breathe in the glass for a few moments to reach its peak. Add a few drops of water to help the aromas develop within the glass.

  • Yeast: Fermentis Safwhisky M-1

    Unpeated malt: Pilsner malt from Vikingmalt in Halmstad.

    Barely types: Quench, Publican, Henley

    Peated malt: Pilsner malt from Castle Maltings in Belgien.

    Peated to a phenolic level of 43ppm with peat from Scotland

    Barely types: Henley, Sébastian,

    Process water: From Bålsjön, filtered through sand and carbon filters

    Cooling water: From Ångermanälven

    Batch size: 1200 kg malt / 6300 liter wort

    Included batches: 135B-169B, 268A-276A

    Average fermentation time: 80 hours in stainless steels washbacks.

    Distilled between: 23/09/2011 – 12/06/2012

    Unpeated spirit: 13 minutes head (foreshots)
    Peated spirit: 30 minutes head (foreshots)

    Second Cut:
    Unpeated spirit: 67 % ABV (20°C)
    Peated spirit: 60 % ABV (20°C)

  • Strength ABV (alcohol by volume): 52 % % ABV
    Age: 3,85 years (average 4,29 years)
    Phenol content PPM: 9 ppm (malt)
    Cask: 1st fill bourbon and new American oak
