Early Days Batch 001
Early Days was introduced in November 2015. It was an important event because it was the first ever edition for the international market. The series was produced in conjunction with the launch of Box Whisky in France.
Early Days 001 is the first bottling from Box without the involvement of smoky spirits, a pure bourbon maturation from 130 liter barrels using of 100% Pilsner malt, which dominated the whisky industry before modern and more effective barley varieties were developed. The whisky is very floral and fruity and received a very good reception by the international audience. The whisky was exported mainly to France, Germany and England. This edition was also sold to a limited extent in the border trade.
100% unpeated Pilsner malt.
100% of added whisky comes from 130 litre bourbon casks. Early Days Batch 001 is neither cold-filtered nor coloured.
The bourbon cask is manufactured by Speyside Cooperage in quarter cask size using 130-140 litres of newly emptied bourbon barrels (200 litre)
Up until October 2014, the cask was stored in a damp warehouse and lost a great deal of its alcohol strength. From October 2014 till November 2015, the cask has been stored in a drier environment in box warehouse Nr 3.
On the 10th of November 2015, 830kg of whisky with an average alcohol content of 59.7% was added to a blending tank. Alcohol content was adjusted to 51.2% at the time of bottling.
Early Days Batch 001 was bottled on 16th November 2015 in a batch of 2109 bottles. 2004 bottles were released via La Maison du Whisky at the start of December 2015. The remaining bottles were reserved for fairs, events and tastings.
To allow it to deliver maximum enjoyment, we recommend that early days batch 001 is allowed to breathe in the glass for a time.
Feel free to add a few drops of water to enhance the aromas in the glass.
