Situated at 63° N, High Coast Distillery is one of the world’s most northern whisky distilleries. Exactly where the 63rd parallel cuts through warehouse No.3 we have matured this unique, heavily peated whisky for 63 months.

63 consists of 100 % peated whisky (63 ppm) matured in 63 liter bourbon casks, for 63 months, 63 decimeters above the ground.
63 is bottled at 63 % ABV. In 63 our distillery manager Roger Melander really set the light on the number 63 and has created a fantastic whisky, smooth and with a long peaty character.


63 is available in limited quantities at 50 of Systembolaget’s outlets in Sweden.

  • 63 consists of 100 % peated whisky (63 ppm) matured in 198 bourbon casks with a volume of 63 liters.

    63 contains no artificial colouring and is non chill-filtered.

  • The casks are reshaped and constructed by Thorslundkagge from 1st fill bourbon barrels (200 l).

    Casks are filled between 20/12/2013 and 27/01/2014

    18/04/2019 92 casks containing 4304 kilos of whisky (batch 1), with an average strength of 67,3% abv, were emptied into our blending tank. There we added, 346 kilos of water to reach the desired strength of 63% abv. Batch 1 was bottled 23/04/2019 at a temperature of 63 °F (17 °C)

    We recommend that 63 is allowed to breathe in the glass for a few moments to reach its peak. Add a few drops of water to help the aromas develop within the glass.


  • Yeast: Fermentis Safwhisky M-1

    Peated malt: Dry smoked for 30 hours at Tweed Valley Maltings, belonging to Simpsons Malt since 1963. Purchase price was 6,30 kr/kg.

    Peated to a phenolic level of 63 ppm with peat from St Fergus bog, Aberdeenshire in Scotland.

    Barely types: 50% Concerto and 50% Optic from 2012 harvest.

    Process water: From Bålsjön, filtered through sand and carbon filters

    Cooling water: From Ångermanälven

    Batch size: 1250 kg malt / 6300 liter wort

    Included batches: 608A-626A

    Average fermentation time: 63 hours in stainless steels washbacks.

    Distilled between: 16/12/2013 to 24/01/2014
